Exciting Summer Shows, Part II

If you recall from recent blogs, I had a couple of very cool shows in the summer of 2013. Now that summer is upon us again, let’s do a couple more!

First, on June 27th, the St. Paul Jazz Festival kicks off in the lowertown neighborhood of St. Paul. There’s a main stage in Mears Park where all the national acts perform, and all of the other venues in the neighborhood participate as well, booking jazz music the entire weekend. The Zeb Cruikshank Band will be performing on Friday, June 27th at 11 p.m. at the Black Dog Cafe (which is right downstairs from one of the places I teach lessons, St. Paul Guitar Studio). It’s only an hour set, and toward the end of the night, but it’s still and honor to be included in the festival. I saw my name on the festival’s website and everything (http://www.hotsummerjazz.com/schedule/).

Then, on August 16th, it’s the Jess & Zeb 11th Anniversary Show. Last year’s anniversary show was so much fun with the full band, we decided to do it again this year. This time, we’ll be doing both sets with the band, instead of doing first set acoustic. Hey, you can hear Jess & Zeb play acoustic at any of our gigs. We have a band for this one, we might as well let them play with us! Same stellar line-up as last time – Dan Musselman on keys, Brent Wallace on bass, and Pete Berven on drums. This year, it will be 9-11 p.m. at Harriet Brewing in Minneapolis.

Details on both shows can be found on the calendar page of my website. While you’re there, check out some of the other gigs I have coming up!

In other exciting news, I have just joined the guitar faculty at MacPhail Center for the Arts. I will begin teaching at their Chanhassen location this summer, and who knows where it will go from there. This could potentially be a big step in my teaching career, though, so I’m excited to get started.

So that’s what I’ll be up to this summer. Hope to see you all around soon!
