Happy New Year! Here’s what’s happening in the magical land of Zeb.

A couple interesting developments in the teaching department – first, I have begun teaching a beginning rock guitar group class at Brickhouse Music. I have about 16 years of teaching experience, but almost all of that has been one-on-one lessons, so it’s been a fun new challenge to work with a group. A total of 10 students signed up for this first session, which was a nice surprise, as I was expecting maybe 5 or 6, at most. The plan is to have a 6-week course, during which I will teach the fundamentals of guitar technique, effective practicing habits, some common chords, and some fun, recognizable classic rock riffs. This class ends mid-February, but there will be another one starting in March, so if you or anyone you know is interested, please see the Lessons tab on the site to contact Brickhouse Music about signing up!

Also in teaching news, the other place I teach at, St. Paul Guitar Studio, was just listed as one of the best places in the Twin Cities to take guitar lessons in an article on the CBS MN website. When I first started teaching at SPGS in ’08, it was a new business that had only been open for about a year, so it’s been exciting to see it grow over the last 5 years.

In performance news…well, not much new to report here. I still perform quite a bit, though, in a variety of acoustic and electric configurations, so keep an eye on the Calendar page for all the latest. I always post shows as soon as I book them.

Some goals for 2013:
*Find a few new venues to perform my original music
*A list of various techniques, styles, and songs I plan to learn or improve on
*Continue to refine my teaching method for both private and group lessons
*Post more videos on my website for your viewing pleasure!
